Note from the Director

Each session is led by a volunteer Director from a local congregation. Here’s a summary of Hattiesburg Week – straight from the Director!

“Hattiesburg Week at GCBC is a special time for campers to grow closer to God and to one another. It gives them the chance to step out of their normal routines, unplug from distractions, and get away from the chaos of everyday life. There’s something powerful about being surrounded by friends who love the Lord and being immersed in an environment where every class, song, game, and activity points to Christ.

No matter where your camper is spiritually—whether just beginning their walk of faith or already growing in their relationship with Jesus—our goal is to help them take the next step closer to Him. That’s why we encourage campers to fully embrace the camp experience: studying the Bible, worshiping in song, enjoying Christ-centered activities, and building lasting friendships. We leave our cell phones at home and focus on God and each other.

Hattiesburg Week falls on the week of July 12th each year.  Started in the early 70s, our week is staffed by members of the Churches of Christ from Hattiesburg and surrounding areas. Past directors include Ken Stegall, Robert Russell, George Roth and Ricky Moorer. Currently under the direction of Joey Bishop. We invite campers in grades 1-12 to come and share this special place with us.”

FAQ

Who can come to camp?

Our summer age ranges from 1st grade to 12th grade depending on the week.  But we open our gates to anyone and everyone year round for retreats and other weeks of camp!

Our cabins each sleep 22 total campers and staff in twin-sized bunks. Four of our cabins have attached bathrooms inside the cabin. The other four cabins have a detached bath house. The cabins are insulated and air-conditioned for comfort even on the hottest Mississippi summer days.

GCBC is staffed individually each week by volunteers from local congregations. We also have four staff lifeguards and our camp director that are here all summer long.

No, all snacks and meals are fully included in your camper fees.
